Iongear Co., Ltd. has been conducting research and development of medical devices since 2004.
Our chief development officer, Kenji Ogama worked in the research and development field at Mitsubishi Electric Corporation through his career therein in order to develop new business, and in 1993, created an EEG induction device based on the frequency following response of cerebrum. This research and development process included study of cerebrophysiology and neurology fields, and through this experience, Kenji Ogama obtained a basic patent related to the EEG induction device in 1997, and created a pilot product based on an acupuncture and moxibustion theory in 1999, which was then commercially sold at convenience store chain Family Mart and other drug stores in Japan. Although the pilot product was greatly effective, a novel method more suitable for skin blood stream characteristics was discovered, and with this discovery, Kenji Ogama established Iongear Co., Ltd. in 2004 in order to conduct the research and development of better products.
Although its effect has been acknowledged, acupuncture and moxibustion has not been studied enthusiastically from a western medicinal standpoint. Iongear Co., Ltd. has studied not only the cerebrophysiology field but also the epidermis and algesia fields, and focused on polymodal nociceptor to approach the mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion.
In recent years, a combination of western medicine and eastern medicine is studied as integrative medicine, and many cases about polymodal nociceptor have been studied in medical and acupuncture and moxibustion societies. Through the studies, the scientific clarification of the technical field of acupuncture and moxibustion has been significantly advanced. Our product "Iongear" is an achievement through twenty-year research and development and cooperation of many related agencies.
Iongear Co., Ltd. developed a prototype of medical device "Iongear" in 2015, which is completely free from technical problems found in the pilot device. We filed multiple patent application domestically and internationally, and now own multiple patents as a proof of effectiveness and safeness of Iongear.
On the other hand, for a broader use of our medical devices, Iongear Co., Ltd. had multiple meetings with Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare from 2015, and in January 2016, Iongear was approved to be used in clinics (for example, acupuncture and moxibustion clinic, orthopedic clinic, manipulator clinic, chiropractic clinic, massage saloon, and beasty treatment saloon) other than hospitals under Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Health Policy 0106 Number 3. Then, through consultation of related ministries and agencies, medical devices Iongear series has been on sale since January 2017, and Iongear Co. Ltd. continues our research and development of further innovative medical devices.
